BRAIN SURGERY THROUGH THE NOSTRIL WITH ENDOSCOPIC HYPOPHYSEAL SURGERY
Brain and Nerve Surgery Specialist Op. Dr. Celal Özbek ÇAKIR: "Transsphenoidal surgery is a surgery performed by entering through the nasal cavity and reaching the pituitary base and the pituitary from there. With this method, surgery, which is normally performed by opening the skull, can be performed without touching any of these structures. Our patient, 72 years old, came to us with sudden eyelid drooping, vision loss and severe headache. In the patient's examinations, we found a large mass in the space where the pituitary gland is located at the base of the skull, which we call the sella, and that the cranial nerves in this region were under compression due to this, and we made a surgical decision. We completely drained the tumor with transsphenoidal intervention and took the patient to the service without any problems."
